The Studio

At Margit Schmeide Interiors, we believe a space is at its best when architecture, interior design and furnishings are conceived together, each element strengthening the others to create a whole that is greater than its parts.

Every project starts with what is already there. We begin by understanding the property, its history and surroundings, and the pieces our clients wish to carry forward, then bring these together with their ambitions, way of living and practical needs. No two clients are alike, so every collaboration is personal and every design is created specifically for its place. Working closely with our clients throughout, we refine ideas step by step in a process that is open, creative and genuinely enjoyable.

Alongside our private residential clients, we have had the pleasure of working on commercial, hospitality and yachting projects for clients internationally.

Our studio and in-house atelier are based in Düsseldorf, Germany.

About Margit Schmeide

Margit Schmeide has always been drawn to colour, texture and design. Raised in a creative, avant-garde family where design was part of everyday life, she found her way to interiors through fashion. Working for national and international designers, she gained a deep understanding of materials, proportion and cut, as well as what it takes to build a brand.

On her travels she discovered Maison Decor, a Spanish homeware company, and brought it to Germany, opening the first shop in Düsseldorf in 1999. Its success quickly led to five more shops across the country. As her reputation grew, Margit opened a design studio alongside the brand to meet her clients' wish for complete interiors for their homes and houses.

With demand continuing to rise, she established her own independent studio under her name in 2010, and has since become known for high-end interiors that stand the test of time through exceptional quality.

How we work

A house is not finished when the drawings are approved. It is finished when the last crate is out of the hall, the pictures are level, and the lamps are on the right side of the chairs.

So we are there for that part too. We unpack, we hang, we move things and move them back. The trades we use are the ones we have used for years, which is why the joinery fits and the upholstery arrives in the right fabric.

No project too small,
No project too big.
